CALVERHill dominates the middle reaches of Swaledale, a huge bulk of heather-clad moorland that rises up above the confluence of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale, with Reeth reposing on its lower slopes. This is a walk I have wanted to complete for many years, as I have always wondered what the views would be like from the top. They do not disappoint.

Walks - Calver Hill

The first part of this walk heads up through Arkengarthdale across fields and through a succession of squeeze stiles. The shattered scree slopes and mining spoil heaps along Fremington Edge dominate, while an intricate pattern of drystone walls divide up the undulating valley pastures.
