THOUSANDS of people turned out yesterday morning to watch some of the world's best cyclists leave a North East town on the second stage of the Tour of Britain.

Ninety-six riders set off on the 152.3km stage to Gateshead from Darlington Market Place at 10.15am, cheered on by a 3,000-strong crowd.
