TWO of the region's councils were among the biggest spenders on emergency orders of road salt in the last financial year, according to a survey.
The survey, by the lobby group Taxpayers' Alliance, revealed that North Yorkshire County Council and Newcastle City Council spent [pounds]533,652 and [pounds]331,400 respectively on emergency orders of salt to grit the roads.See the full content of this document
