Summary
IF the past two winters are anything to go by, then we could be in for a long, hard spell. As I am writing this article, heavy snow is beginning to fall at Harlow Carr, but as yet it has not settled.
Further up into the Dales, it has well and truly settled. It would seem that winter has finally arrived after the long period of warm weather this autumn. This mild spell has had an effect on the local bird population visiting the bird feeding station. The numbers have not been as great as they were this time last year, probably due to the high levels of natural food that was still available until two weeks ago.See the full content of this document
