DURHAM, famed for its 900-year-old cathedral, could become a ?green city?, renowned for its parks and woods, it has been claimed.

The city is in line for a major woodland makeover, with the banks of the River Wear around the cathedral restored as pleasure gardens and the creation of more than 150 acres of woods near Croxdale.
