THE Northern Echo-supported Weardale Triathlon maintained its record of enjoying superb conditions. The sun shone on the competitors who again tested themselves over the official 'sprint' distance of 750m swim, 20k bike ride and 5k run at Stanhope in Weardale yesterday.
In fact, the sun was a mixed blessing as a number of competitors found the conditions a little too warm. Certainly, although the first two men's finishers ducked under the one-hour barrier, which is very quick, it did seem as though the heat played a part in the proceedings.See the full content of this document
