Summary
ANDY WALKER braves the chills to revisit some childhood haunts and enjoy the beauty and charm of a North Yorkshire jewel one time served as the chapel of Richmond Castle's outer bailey, has been home to regimental memorabilia since 1973, although the roots of the museum can be traced back a further 50 years or so.
It is possible that the church was founded by Alan Rufus - also known as Alan the Red - a companion of William the Conqueror, during the aforementioned conquest, in the 11th Century.
